What fun was had at Watermeet Theatre yesterday evening. A star-studded event, with old and new talent rubbing shoulders. Dave and Carie Grant, Chris Eaton all enjoying an evening with Nick Battle as well as new talent like Debbie Karr and of course the lovely Kipper who produced Sting's last album showing he could sing a few numbers too. Helen enjoyed singing her version of 'Born Free' which went down very well with the punters. Taken from her new pure jazz album - 'Helen J Hicks, Lilve at the 606', it's her version of Don Black's tune, who on hearing it declared " I did enjoy Helen's jazzy approach to Born Free. I don't think it's ever been done this way before and I think it works very well. She sounds confident and inventive and deserves to make her mark". You can listen to a sample of it on the bizmo shop page. All thoughts welcome.
FAB NIGHT!
